...antique stores, flea markets, mostly Savers!
I never was a shopping kind of person. Well, not the kind that actually spent money, the kind that went and looked for nothing in particular and found something so amazing that I HAD to get it. Of course most of my buys were something old, used, unusual, and absolutely beautiful. I really miss my little trips to different little shops for no particular reason.
Lately I have been thinking about old glass bottles in interesting shapes and sizes, some sort of cool hair piece to wear at my wedding, a cool old hippie crocheted doily or table cloth, and of course the usual old candles and wax. I have tons of wax packed away somewhere at my parents house, tons of odd looking wax melting gadgets, tons of pop cans that have been carefully cleaned and the tops cut off, wicks, and other candle making tools. I would never ever buy wax or candle making supplies here, but I really do miss making candles! The glass bottles are for two things. I would like to find some small ones of clear glass to use as decorations at my wedding reception. They need to have a big enough mouth to hold a bunch of daisies. I am also looking for a large bottle of an interesting shape and clear glass to be used to hold our unity sand. I am kind of excited to be back in the US for the summer, garage sale season!! But if I could find a few different stores here to look for something interesting, and if my hubby would be willing to go with me....big IF, what husband would want to go antique-ing?? And lastly the hippie crocheting doily/table cloth would be for the top of our dresser. Now that I have a piece of furniture made of real wood, I want to keep it nice, and something to put on the top of it would keep it from getting scratched. Maybe after I get my first paycheck I can go looking for an antique shop and buy myself a reward. Not like getting a first paycheck again needs a reward, but it has been awhile since I have bought anything for myself...not counting the miracle whip and kool aid I bought in the states.
If anyone knows of any really cool antique stores in Santiago let me know PLEASE!!
