I can't stop!
So, now that I have had my Reader for a few weeks, I pretty much like it except the glare still drives me crazy. But all I can think about now is how I should have waited to get a reader. Why? Well, because 2 days ago, Barnes and Noble announced that they will be releasing their ebook, nook in November. Would I rather have a nook?? YESSSS!!! Why? Well, the only reason I got the Sony was because the Kindle 2 just didn't rub me the right way after I read a ton of reviews. Mostly I didn't like the fact that you had to back up your stuff at amazon. Now that I look at the nook, I really really want to trade mine in. Why don't I then?? Because my husband thinks I am a spoiled brat and I should be happy with what I have. Yes. I know and I really truly am happy that I now have a reader. I absolutely love my husband to death for buying it for me. But that doesn't stop me from wanting the nook. I love Barnes and Noble and I can proudly say that I have never bought a book from anywhere but Barnes and Noble. Well, not all, I used to get books from the Scholastic book order when I was little, but I didn't buy them and maybe a few other times I bought books somewhere else. But anyways, I love Barnes and Noble, and I would much rather have my money going to them for books than Sony. I don't love Sony, you can't go to Sony and sit around reading books for hours and hours....I don't even know where a Sony is! I know how to get to Barnes and Noble in St. Cloud, MOA, and even in Bozeman, Montana! Besides that, Barnes and Noble is a bookstore...duh...Sony is not, I can see in the future B&N always having a great and expanding amount of ebooks. Plus the nook has no glare. No glare which means I would be able to read it in my bedroom. Sigh....gotta stop thinking about this.

And so it starts....early, but in Minnesota, what can you ever expect?? NOT the weather!!
*sigh......
Its here. Winter in Minnesota has officially popped in. As I sit here there is snow on the ground. Yes, snow. It did accumulate even after all them professional weather people said it would not. There is sits. The past few MN winters that I have experienced, I haven't had anything to make it that terrible. But this year, I no longer have my Lincoln. Well, I have it, but its out of commission. Now I have a hand me down "work" car. And that's on its way out because the heating and defrost don't work at all. So at the moment my dad is working on his old "work" car to try and get it back to running because the heat works in it. ("work" cars are cars that are used solely for the purpose of getting a concrete worker and his dirty concrete covered tools to the work yard.) So, not only does it have to be fixed it has to be cleaned and vacuumed repeatedly because after you clean it from somewhere the concrete dust rises and lands everywhere. No matter how much you clean it, the dust comes back. Not that I mind that though. It will be the switching of insurance that will bother me. As soon as the car my dad is fixing now is running he will be working on my Dodge InCrapid to try to fix the heating unit so that as soon as one dies I can move to the next. *sigh. Stupid winter.
On the up side its about time to carve pumpkins!!! 2 weeks is all I have left to think of the perfect thing to carve into my pumpkin!! :D I also have to find a costume and I am getting Zoe one because I found one for $7 and its a squirrel and its perfect!! hehehehe. As winter is here, I will be cuddling up and spending a lot of my time reading and sipping hot cocoa, cider, tea, and coffee. I have to stash up on some STASH tea. I love it and they have some wintery holiday flavors that make me all warm and fuzzy inside. Well, I am off to find my snow pants and boots. No way am I driving anywhere without them in my trunk especially with the crapmobiles I will be driving this winter.

My Digital eReader!
After waiting all day yesterday my eReader finally arrived! I was awake at 8am and every time a truck drove by I lifted my head to see if it was coming into the driveway. Its harvesting season here in MN so plenty of trucks drove by. Regular farm trucks pulling bobcats, hay bales, and 4 wheelers went by all day. I saw the Schwan's man drive by twice, a moving truck and a tractor also drove by. Well, I was tired by 3pm, since I decided to go to bed the night before at 2am, so I decided to go and take a nap. And sure as shit, the second I dozed off, the dogs went crazy and I heard a knock on the door. And there it was!! :D I signed my name and took my box! Later I looked online at the FedEx tracking to see if it said delivered...just to see. And yeap it was there signed by S. Vivar. <3 I have not changed my name, but I like how everyone here assumes that my last name is Vivar.
I had done a lot of research when I started wanting an ebook reader. I looked at the Amazon Kindle 2 and up to the day before Ro ordered it, that is what I was dead set of getting. I love the look of the Kindle and that almost every book you buy at Amazon.com is $9.99, even new releases. I however did not like the fact that you can't save your ebook anywhere, that Amazon saves it for you, so if you were to accidentally delete it from your reader Amazon had it on back up. Yes, it sounds nice, but after reading the reviews of the Kindle I saw the catch. And yes it is a big one! If you buy a normal paperback book from the bookstore, and it goes out of print, you still have the book. It is still on your bookshelf. Well, if you buy a book off Amazon, and it goes out of print, well its gone. Disappears. The book that you paid for is no longer yours because it went out of print. Also if you buy magazine subscriptions, they only save them for like 6 days and after that you can never retrieve them again. As soon as I read 4 or 5 reviews complaining about that I was on my way out with the Kindle. Then I read that you can only use the wireless whispernet in Sprint areas. Well, Sprint does not work where I live. Even though that little map that shows in red the areas, well it doesn't work here. So I would have had to download my books somewhere else. Like drive south 10 miles, sit in my car, download a book and drive back. Sounds like fun... After I threw out the idea of the Kindle I went back to my first choice that I wanted way back when I first wanted a reader. I went to look for the Sony PRS-700. They were out of stock and not coming back. So I had to look into other Sony readers. I decided on the PRS-600 because it is very much like the 700, touchscreen and 6in, but it just didn't have the backlight. I looked at all the reviews on the website about it. I did notice a lot of the cons were the glare, but I went with it anyways. It took me 2 days to decide what color I wanted. I really wanted the red, but it was quite flashy and I know that I will be bringing it to Chile, and the less flashy the better. So it was between black and silver. I decided Silver. So on Tuesday Ro ordered it for me and it was off and ready to be shipped in 5 to 7 days. Yes I said on Tuesday, yesterday was Thursday. It only took 2 days!!! Props to FedEx!
I originally planned to wait to review it until I had it for at least 3 days, but I of course couldn't wait. I give it a rating of 4 and a half stars. It lost that last half star because of, well the glare. It doesn't bother me all that much pretty much you just can't sit under a huge bright light. I haven't tried it in sunlight, but I don't think that will be a problem. I am amazed at the eink Vizplex screen. It honestly looks just like paper! I love it. The contrast is just right and since I can't find my glasses at the moment I have the text at size L. If I was completely blind or if I wanted to let a kid read with it, which I will never ever ever do, I can set the size to XXL which is huge but nice. One of my favorite features on the eReader is the built in dictionary. I love it. If there is a word that I don't know or can't remember or even one of those words you use all the time, but don't even know the true definition all i have to do is tap on it 2 times and the dictionary tells me the definition. There are 2 options for turning the page, there is a button left and right to turn, or you just swipe your finger on the bottom of the screen and the page will turn!! It simple to use and as it only weighs 10 oz it easily replaces my need to take ONLY 3 books when I fly back and forth to Chile. Before I had to choose which books to bring and which books to leave. Now as soon as I build up my own little library I never have to choose. Ever. I highly doubt I will ever fill it up it has built in memory usable to me of 380MB plus a slot for SD cards that can handle 16 GB cards, and a slot for memory stick Pro Duo that can also handle 16GB. So lots and lots of memory. Oh, and it has these little plastic "fake" memory cards to go in the slots to protect it from dust and what not. They probably aren't THAT amazing, but I think they are pretty cool. I can put music on it so I no longer have a use for my ipod. (ipod nano for sale!!) I can also store pictures on it, but you can only view them in black and white and they are quite dark to look at. Like pics in a newspaper. I don't think I will really store pics on it. It came with some books already on it, but I deleted them because most of them were in a different language that I don't know. None were in Spanish. I have been to google books and put on a few free books to read for now. And Ro found me a pdf book and he sent me that. So I have 4 books on it right now and once I am able to I will most likely buy Dan Brown's new book The Lost Symbol. So, for all of you book loving travelers out there, I seriously do recommend that you get a reader. They are worth it!! I can't seem to take a good pic of the reader, so there is my picture to show the glare problem. I still can't figure out how to put the pic where I want.

Blabs
Just a quick update.
My jean quilt is not finished, but I have a lot of the front of it done.
I have job orientation on Wednesday!!! Finally!!! And I start out at $8.75 and hour. I have to work overnights again which I really did like at the time. I hope I still do!!
I taught Evalie how to wave "hi" and how to clap. She doesn't completely get the clapping, she opens one hand and just slaps the other with it whether or not the other hand is open. But she gets the idea. She's so cute!!!!
Zoe ran off with the neighbors dog today. Grr. Now I think I have to take her to the vet to make sure that the lil shit isn't carrying a mangy mutts pups.
The leaves are changing colors and most of the maples have already dropped all their leaves. The weather has been cold and gray for like a week now. I had to put an extra blanket on my bed, but its not quite cold enough for me to turn on the heat...yet.
My car. Oh my poor poor car. I don't think its going to make it through the winter. I don't think its going to make it through the fall!! This causes big problems because I work overnights so my car will have to be able to start in the morning. Oh and did I mention the heat and defrost don't work....I have no idea how that is going to work.
If anyone remembers way back when, well, I guess it is coming true!!! :D I am not getting the Sony PRS-700 but the PRS-600!!! I can't wait. Ro is such a great husband!! I love him to death and now he is buying me a present!! :D I should have it in my hands next week, I will take pics of it and write my personal review of it for anyone else thinking of getting an ebook reader!!!
Well, I am off to find some slippers, my feet are freezing!!!
