So last night as I was riding in the colectivo, where I spend about an hour of my life everyday, I was actually paying attention to the radio. Bad move...I should have sat in the back seat!
I was having a very hard time not laughing while the driver drummed his fingers to some seriously OLD songs! They were of course in English and the chorus of one of the songs goes like this: (Yes sadly I remember this!! SORRY!) "When a girl changes from bobby socks to stockings then she's old enough to give her heart away." What the hell are bobby socks?? And of course the song that came us just as we were pulling up to my stop was none other then, "Going to the chapel and we're gonna get maaaried" Kind of weird!! ALso the itsy bitsy teeny weenie yellow polka dot bikini song was on somewhere in there too! I have never actually heard that whole song, its so lame, if she doesn't want anyone to see her in her itsy bitsy teeny weenie yellow polka dot bikini, then why did she even buy it?!?!
I don't understand why people listen to songs that they can't understand. That would be one of the biggest reasons that I don't like listening to anything in Spanish. I don't know what they are talking about. So, I stick to my ipod which seriously needs an update! And listen to songs in English that do not include songs about bobby socks, bikinis, and going to the chapel!

Civil Marriage!
Rodrigo and I are getting legally married next Tuesday. The legal wedding here from what I have seen is dressing up...ugh how I hate dressing up! Not only do I have to wear "dress" pants, I also am not allowed to wear flip flops which I was totally planning on wearing. I think this whole signing papers thing is just a small bump on the way to being married. Anyways. Besides being dressed up. Ours requires a translator because my Spanish isn't good enough. Yeah, I know I suck at Spanish! And we have to pay like 80 bucks to have one of the TWO translators working for the government come. 80 bucks! I would so rather spend that on something more exciting, like our rings..which brings me to another thing required for this wedding. And remember these may or may not be required I am just going with what my fiance and his mother say. We need to have rings, real ones, I was fine with just a cheap one off the street, but no, real gold it is! So we are buying two cheap gold bands which to me isn't that cheap! I would totally have gone for white gold because I pretty much love it, but two plain white gold bands costs more than one month of work for me!!! More the $600 for two BANDS!! I have two rings that are white gold and one has one diamond one has three and together they cost less than $600!! I can't wait to buy our "real" rings in the US. When I say real, I only mean that those rings will be worn only in the US, never in Chile, no exception. SO we will have beautiful wonderful rings in the US. And here we will have a boring old yellow gold band. Back to the marriage!! We will go to pudahuel a county in Santiago that I have been in just the one time to get the paper. The whole while I was there I was paranoid. Ro said it is a very very poor part of the city. So poor that there was a dead dog on the sidewalk, and nobody even came to get rid of it!! We will be there with Ro's mom, dad, sis, and 2 grandmas. I didn't know that signing paper was so important. Our signing will also be videotaped if Rodrigo gets his way. Just the thing that I am going to want to watch with my kids 10 years down the road...yes sweetie look, there's mommy and daddy(Ro has decided that he wants to be called daddy instead of papa or papi or whatever else they use here instead.) signing a paper! Anyways. I am just mad because I can't wear flip flops and I have to buy dress shoes that I will only be wearing that one day. I just love spending money on unnecessary things...I actually do like doing that, but only on things that I like!!

Chilean Men
So what do I have to say about Chilean men, well for one thing this is such a broad topic that I have decided to write about Chilean men as drivers. I don't have very much experience riding with men that aren't taxi, bus, or colectivo drivers, but here goes. I have separated it into different parts.
Ro and Driving. Sorry honey :D
We get into the car and first he must find the stereo face which is always locked in the glove box. He usually looks around first and asks where his keys are. They are ALWAYS in his pocket. Always. Then he will turn the car on and realize that he forgot to get the stereo out of the glove box, and God forbid we drive to Lider which is maybe a 7 minute drive without the radio on. So turn off the car unlock the glove box, get the stereo face. Next start the car and rev the engine a few times. This used to completely annoy me, but I have gotten used to it. Drive off as fast ass possible and drive everywhere we go as fast as possible and slam on the breaks really hard for every single speed bump, slow car, or pothole. Turn a lot without using the signal, and pretty much he just tries to get where ever we are going as fast as he possibly can. Parking my favorite. Instead of just making a wide turn into a parking spot he will park by turning sharp, putting the car in reverse going forward and the same until he feels that he is PERFECTLY straight. We then get out of the car he locks the stereo back into the glove box. Occasionally he will get back in the car and either back up or go forward about three inches. Parking with him always makes me crabby because it takes way too much time. So we get out of the car, and my door has to be closed before he pushes the lock button. (I know that the door will lock whether or not the door is open, but whatever.) Then he must check doors to make sure that they are in fact locked. And we are done and ready to go into Lider.
Rodrigo's dad, Tito, and Driving.
Get into the car, I immediately put my seat belt on, not for safety but for the fact that if we are to come to a sudden and complete stop it holds me in my seat. If we are driving with the whole family, Ro sits in front with his dad, then his mom and sister sit in back with me. I usually have my hand on the door to hold myself in place. When we are riding I usually try to keep quiet and hold still, but I know that I make faces when we come to sudden stops, swerve quickly around people, or go WAY too fast taking a turn. Did I mention that he is the president of a taxi company?? Anyways, my first time riding with him I was in the back seat with Ro and when we got out Ro's fingers were purple from me squeezing on to them so hard. I have also had to catch myself when I have pushed the invisible break. Something that I used to laugh at my mom about regularly. We always get where we want to go on time which is nice, but it is a bit scary. I am still trying to get used to it.
Taxi and Colectivo Drivers and Driving.
Let's first start with the appearance of the cars inside and out. The first thing you will notice is that a lot of the cars are not that new. They aren't old old or anything, but they have see their days. The second thing you will notice is on the inside. A lot of them have their car "pimped out." Things you may see are, stickers everywhere, Looney Tunes and Mickey Mouse are popular stickers. Kind of like second graders with their pencil boxes decked out in stickers. Another thing you might notice would be lights. I have seen many things from one strip of red Xmas looking lights that only turn on when he pushes on the breaks, a neon blue dome light, or more Xmas looking lights randomly in the front. Next you will notice the seats. Some of the men like to have racing style seat covers along with fake race car looking gauges on the dash board. Others prefer covering the seat with a nasty itchy gray material, these cars also may or may not have that cloth on the ceiling pulled off. Of course then you get the guys that have camouflage fleece put on the seats and it makes you wonder if people actually hunt in these parts or if it is just for show. Other random things they might have can be hundreds of air fresheners hanging from the rear view mirror, different devices for putting the money they receive for payment, or custom horns. Let's go off on that. I would have to say that the custom horns are the most annoying and stupid things ever!! The driver will honk his horn when it is minimally necessary, maybe for show, maybe to make himself feel satisfied. For the rider and other drivers it is horrible. The first time I rode in a car with a custom horn, I thought the police were following us and when I noticed that wasn't what was going on I thought it was a cell phone. If anyone with a horn like that honked at me I wouldn't know what was going on at all. I wouldn't get out of the way or anything. And now about their driving. Colectivo drivers are something I see everyday of my life. When Ro isn't with me, I can sit in the car for up to 5 minutes waiting for someone else to get in the car before he will leave the place. Then he will drive EXTREMELY slow, this happens mostly on days that I am running late. He will come to an almost stop at every street and little alley we go by hoping for a customer. When we are finally full, he will drive fast and swerve around EVERYTHING! A car parked on the side of the rode?? Yes, we should swerve 15 feet to the left to avoid hitting it even though it is clearly not in our way at all. A bump on top of the speed bump?? Well, of course we should wait for 5 cars to come by so that we can cross over and drive on their side of the bump! A bus that is driving the same speed as us?? DUH!! We MUST speed up and go around it, even if it means going past the metro which I had already said, "En el metro por favor." Let's not waste my good Spanish. In the end I have to walk a block back to the station. On the way home from work, there is a street that is two way, but only wide enough for one car so of course when there is a car half a mile in front of us the driver must gun it to go two blocks as fast as he can so he can beat the other guy. Congratulations sir you won! In fact we will be off this street before we even see the other car drive by. I think that's all I have to say about collective drivers.
Bus Drivers and Driving
I'll keep this nice and short. I have rode the bus maybe a total of 6 times. My first ride on a bus goes something like this. I am sitting in the back, we drive really fast and because we are a bus, we are kings of the rode. We can cut whoever we want off and swerve around whoever we want. And so we are almost to our stop. I am with Ro and his friend Pancho. The bus comes to an almost stop Ro and his friend jump off, Ro turns around to help me down. (What a gentleman!! Ahh My future hubby :D) And me, I am getting off when BAM! door closes, I am stuck in the door which for anyone that is wondering does not feel great. I am banging on the window with my free hand, screaming and watching as Ro runs along the bus pounding it and swearing at it. the people around me are yelling at the driver and he finally lets me off. I get off on the verge of tears, I wasn't going to cry in front of Ro's friend. I swear at the bus driver in English of course and walk away acting calm even though I am horrified. Next encounter. We (Ro and I) are on an almost empty bus at about 1pm. The driver drives by at least 20 different stops where people are calling for the bus we are on and he doesn't stop. This confuses me. A passenger wants to get off and he lets that person off, but won't let anyone else on. Everyone is swearing and pissed. I get off end of story. That's all I have to say about that.
I hope you like my post on Chilean men. :D

EXCUSE ME??
So, I have read many blog posts about cat calls and I have never experienced this at all while I have been in Chile, until last night. AND this morning.
Ro and I were walking home yesterday and heard whistling . I thought nothing of it and ignored it while we crossed the street. A minute later, the truck caught up to us and the man in the passenger's seat was pretty much hanging out the window yelling something. Ro flipped him off and I didn't even know what the guy said. I asked Ro, and he said that man said, "You are beautiful, my love." After that the man got on the loud speaker and was whistling at me. What the hell?!?! Who goes on a loud speaker while driving a propane truck and whistles at someone. I asked Rodrigo why the man was doing that. He told me that guys do that all the time and blah blah blah. My first cat call.
Today when I was going to work, I was walking to the subway, and some guy was hanging out the window on a bus shouting and whistling. I looked over and he blew me a kiss. First I looked around to see if maybe the guy's girl was close by or something. I didn't see anyone unless he was dating and old lady with a cane. EWWW. I continued walking. I don't understand why anyone would do that. I look like crap today, messy hair, no makeup, my usual way of going out during the week. Hahaha. So that's how that went.
Changing the subject, Rodrigo and I are getting married on Saturday. Just the civil wedding with the papers and whatnot. I find that whole thing kind of funny. Ro went to the place in our county to see if they could marry us soon, but they were booked til November. So, Ro's dad called some people he knows. (I love how he knows so many people!) And a man agreed to marry us this Saturday but we had to go to a different county. So, Rodrigo and I are getting married in a house that we have never been to in Pudahuel. I don't know how he went about finding a house. It is his friend's parent's house, but still. What do you do, walk up to them and say," Hey can I borrow your house so I can get married?" hahaha

Great Weekend!!
This weekend was awesome, not only because it was a 3 day weekend, but we had a lot of fun stuff to do. Friday we just kind of hung out just Ro and I. Saturday, we had over "the team" and also I finally met up with a Gringa here in Santiago. Jessica and her boyfriend Diego came over. We had some drinks and talked. It was so nice to meet them!! We are planning on going over to Diego's next weekend to hang out again, I am excited!!! We also went to a birthday party later that night, part of the team went home, and Jessica and Diego went home and we decided to continue on with the night. We went to the party and hung out. Everyone was singing Karaoke and they found a song in English and made me sing!! I am not as great as Celine Dion, but I did a kickass version of My Heart Will Go On. Apparently that was one of the only English songs they had, so Ro and I sang that together!! It was a good night we got home at like 5 in the morning and slept really good. We went to Mami's house for lunch and the went home and watched American Pie Beta House together. Ro had to work later so I just hung out in our room. Jessica brought me a book from the US, and I started that. I am going to try and pace myself this time, I have to make this book last as long as I can because I won't get another book until September 15th! Then sadly the weekend was over, and here I am back at the office..... I can't wait til next weekend!!!

My Dog is Not Brave At ALL!!
Here is a video of Zoe escaping, she is a wimp and it takes her like 2 minutes to decide what to do, but she's so cute its worth the time!!
My FAVORITE Thing About Chile
I bitch and complain a lot about Chile, but there are A LOT of things here that I actually like a lot more than in the US. Here is my short, very short list. Hey, I tried...
5. Liter of beer. I think this is super cool that you can get a giant bottle of beer to share for super cheap. I don't really like beer all that much, but my favorite day back in Montana was when we bought 40's, wrapped them in paper bags, and went for a walk. Sharing a beer is fun. It always brings everyone to a better mood, and of course interesting conversations.
4. Cute little cars. I love little gas friendly cars. They are everywhere here. It amazes me how many newer cars there are on the streets. Driving in St. Cloud, MN you mostly see beat up old cars, pick up trucks from the 90's and occasionally some cute little new car. My favorite car here I think is the KIA Morning. It's so cute, if I ever buy a car here, which I probably won't because drivers here scare me! I would probably buy a KIA Morning.
3. Palm trees in the winter. When I first arrived here on my very first trip, it was winter. I was not expecting to see palm trees at all. I took a bunch of pictures with them in it just because I had never been anywhere with palm trees before. Now in the winter when I see palm trees it reminds me that I live in a country where it gets VERY hot in the summer so the palm trees are ok.
2. People watching happens to be one of my favorite hobbies and here I find it a lot more fun. Although I need to learn to keep my laughing to myself, but sometimes I really can't help it. Some styles here that people try to pull off crack me up! I saw an ancient lady the other day with a cane just walking slow and I thought"Oh, how cute." I got closer and she was wearing higher heals than anything I would ever allow myself out of the house with. That has to be a hazard. She had cane for crying out loud!! I also see so many crazy mullets its amazing. I hate mullets!! I don't find them stylish at all!! I also like to watch people on the subway, I once saw and old lady with her hair all done up in this HUGE poof thing. She was also wearing a visor/bonnet thing and the bill of her hat thing was like three times bigger than her head! I had to take a double look because I couldn't take it all in at once. I also get very annoyed when people look at me at all!! When they stare at me longer than others I look directly at them and give them an evil look, but only when Ro is there with me of course, I don't have the balls to do something like that when I am alone.
1. AND my NUMBER ONE! Holidays. Chile has A LOT of holidays and we don't have to work on them!! In the US I always worked on holidays, 4th of July, Easter, Xmas, New Years, you name it I probably worked it! Here we don't have to work! I love it. There's at least one holiday in every month! Except Feb, Apr, June, and October, but some of the other months have 2 days so I don't mind. There's nothing like having a three day weekend! It's my favorite thing ever!! Well, maybe its my favorite thing today because tomorrow is a holiday, but whatever!!

Balancing Act
Yesterday Rodrigo walked into the house to find our little Zoe sneaking out. She has outsmarted the pen that we keep her in. She somehow climbs up the wall of it and then once she gets to the top, she gets to a spot close to the bed, either one, and jumps onto it. The problem is is when the bed is too far away, she just sits there waiting. I think I will set up my video camera tomorrow and try to catch her in action.
In case you want to know, I haven't completely unpacked from going to the States yet.

Our Progress on the K1 Visa
Ro and I have been filling out forms, forms, and more forms. We have our whole packet almost ready to send. And then the waiting will begin. I fly back to the US on October 30th and then the waiting begins. We have to wait wait wait and wait. We can kind of track our petition because every time someone at the service center touches and moves it, they have to scan it. I hope ours gets touched A LOT! Hopefully by Christmas he will have his interview scheduled and maybe he will make it to the US by our 2 year anniversary. I know he won't be in the US for Christmas, but now we are shooting for the 21st of January. I guess I don't have anything else to say about that.

☮Getting Zoe Ready☮

So, we are getting Zoe ready for the trip to the US. We have her carrying bag, I bought it in the US. She is almost done with her shots too. We are still planning on her going with me on October 30th, and the only reason she wouldn't would be if she was missing something. She is getting so big! I can't wait til it gets warm enough for us to have her outside more. I think she will calm down a little bit once we can take her for walks. Once the days get longer that will be easier too because by the time I get home it is already dark out. She has so much energy, but we can easily tire her out playing fetch in the house. So at least she gets her exercise. Living in MN will be good for her, we will be able to take her outside without worrying about her getting stolen or killed by some wild dog on the street! I don't worry about that as much as Ro, but he is probably right, maybe a little over protective, but it could happen. Well, I guess that's all for now.

Why Am I Here??
Work these days is extremely boring. I have nothing to do, but I won't complain I guess. I have pretty much been sitting around playing games on the internet which at this point is now boring me too. If I was allowed to have messenger on my computer, maybe I could talk with my family, but no. Such a luxury is only for our boss and that stupid bitch that sits in the back room and thinks she's better than us. My boss said to me about a month after I started here that they were going to take messenger off of everyone's computers. I asked why? He said I don't make the rules, and it is going to suck for me too.....YEAH. It sucks for you the all you do is sit on messenger. I ask you things and you don't do anything because you are too busy trying to get every girl you can in your pants!! Well you know what?!?! We all know that you are gay so you don't have to keep trying to cover it up!! And me, I have to sit in here bored out of my mind and then correct your stupid love letters for you. Like that's part of my job description!
I am so glad that I am leaving in October!! Sadly I have to work all the way to the end to otherwise I don't get a full month's pay. But, I can't wait to be back in the US! I'm not looking forward to being away from Rodrigo again, but we got through it the first two times, we can do it again for the LAST time : )
So, I better get back to my games. There's not much else going on here. My dog is driving me insane, I can hardly get any sleep without her whining all night. I am thankful that Ro takes her in bed with him so that she and I can both sleep, but at the same time she is not going to learn that she is supposed to be in her bed all night.

Books!!
So, while I was in the States, my grandma bought me 2 books. Well, I read them both already. They were both very good! My Sister´s Keeper was kind of mushy for me, but Twilight!!! I loved it! And I wish I would have known it was going to be that good because I would have boughten the other 2 in the series that were out. The third book just came out like yesterday, or whenever the 2nd was. I should have slowed down and saved some reading for later!! I am for sure going to have to order them and have my mom ship them here!!! I think that Twilight is one of the best books that I have read in a long time, not that I get all that much chance to read books. It must be something about Vampires that just keeps me reading, The Historian is also one of my favorites! I can´t wait to get and read the others in the series, and I guess there´s a movie Twilight being made that I can´t wait to see.
