I WEAR THE PANTS!!!!! And my niece is adorable!!

This is a two sided post. I don't know why I haven't written in a while, probably because I haven't really had anything to write about. So here I am ready to write!!!

I WEAR THE PANTS!!
A few months ago, Ro's dad had a newspaper article about how couple things work in the grand old US of A. Of course you can't believe everything you read here, but Ro's dad found it hilarious the in the US the famales wear the pants. In fact he told the whole family just to make fun of Ro. Maybe it is true, maybe not, I guess it all depends on what you think it takes to wear the pants. I personally had on leg in, but finally I put my foot down and pulled them pants right over my fat ass!! I WEAR THE PANTS!! I work, I pay my bills, and so far in this whole married life we haven't really had anything we mutually paid for. I paid to go to the US over my Christmas break, I paid for our dog, I paid for her food and shots, and I paid for little extra fun things we did. I am coming to the end of my rope though! Let me tell you!!! A husband that does not work and has been saying he is trying to find a job for the past 4 months does not make a happy wife!! Especially when said wife works and found a job within a month of trying. AND said husband "really does" want to go to the US for MY summer. So now that I wear the pants, I am going to the US. I am buying MY ticket and if he doesn't get a job, I am NOT buying him a ticket. He will have to stay here and "try" to find a job, meaning he can sit here and be waited on hand and foot by the effin MIL! While she puts it into his head that it is ok that he is not working because he can live in her house for free. So its ok if he doesn't work. Grrrrr! BTW, I am looking for an apartment for September, I heard of one by Macul that is being built right now and won't be complete til November. Its 2 bedroom, 2 bath for 130.000 CHP each month and we don't have to pay for one year. That sounds sketchy to me....is that normal???

Anyways, my niece is adorable!!! Check her out!!! Evalie Rae!!
I can't wait to see her and hold her!!!

If you're planning to buy an apartment, my advice would be to talk in-depth with people who have done it recently. There are so many offers going on right now because construction companies are so desperate for people to buy, but it seems like one of those situations where you have to do a lot of good research to make sure all of it isn't too good to be true.

Sorry about your hubby and your suegra. I've never really been to Macul, but that sounds unusually cheap. Granted I've been looking in Providencia, it still sounds cheap.

yeah, are you sure you want to buy?? we're leaving our apt if you'd like to rent it. it's 150.000 a month and really nice. let me know!

Lydia, Macul is a metro station, the apartment is really close to that. I am sure there has to be a catch of some sort!

Leigh, I am trying to start researching, its kind of a battle though because I don't read much Spanish, and hubby is not very helpful. He will help me for a bit then he just goes away...

Sara, yeah I don't know what to think about it.

Isabel, we aren't 100% sure if we want to buy, or just rent. When are you guys leaving?? Do you own the apartment??

DO NOT BUY A NEW APARTMENT. You can read my post about house hunting if you want, but basically new apartments are a total rip-off (yes, even with the ridiculous deals they're offering right now). They tend to be poorly constructed, and they're more expensive than apartments that are only a few years old and better quality. I had assumed you were thinking of renting, but if you're talking about not paying for a year it sounds like you're looking at buying. Also, why would you buy an apartment in Chile when you want to leave? This is a financial commitment tying you to Chile for decades if you're paying a mortgage.

It also seems like your husband's lack of a work ethic is a serious issue that you guys need to resolve now. It will only get harder as you get more bitter about it (rightly so, I'd be pissed off too), and expenses will mount up even more if you move out, eventually have kids, etc. It's 2009, it's great that a woman can make more money than her husband, but you shouldn't have to pay for all of your joint expenses.

Emily, we don't know what we want to do. But yes we know that if we buy an apartment we will have ties with Chile. But we are planning on living here for the next 3 years, so we thought if we bought we could rent out our apartment to others and if we ever do move here, we will have a place to live that is MIL free.
About my hubby, I have told him time after time, but living with the MIL, just blows everything I say through his ears.

I personally wouldn't buy a new apartment here. Check out old ones, they're much better deals.

Also, man, I would be SO MAD if that were my husband. Hopefully he gets his act together soon.

oops, and I just saw that Emily already told you not to buy a new apartment. I second her advice.

Kyle, thanks for the advice. I think we are just gonna stick with renting for now. I dont want to commit to something like that.

Shannon, we're leaving this weekend! let me know if you'd like to contact our landlady. she's wonderful. we just rented our apartment from her and she'd be thrilled to have someone to rent it from her right away.

Isabel, I can't afford to rent an apartment right now....we are looking for something for the end of September, beginning of November. Are you moving somewhere else?? or are you going to the States?!?!
