Don't get me wrong, I am grateful that I will have somewhere other than MIL's house to live in when I get back to Chile, but yes, our house is UGLY. There just isn't a better way to say it. Thankfully I have faith that even just giving the whole thing some color (at the moment its all white, but dingy dirty dirty walls) and a fresh coat of paint can definitely fix the ugliness! : D I think being sprayed with some bleach and water will help too... its looks kind of moldy, like the kind of mold that used to be in the bathroom above the shower in my apartment in Montana, but it might really just be dust and dirt. So, today I have been busy watching the video of Ro's tour of the house and trying to coordinate wall colors with tile in the living room, with the cabinets in the kitchen, and my favorite... the blue bathroom complete with busted and missing old gray tiles, blue toilet, blue bathtub, and blue sink. I'm not talking sky blue or baby pastel blue, this is a crazy bright blue. The bathroom is going to need to be completely torn out and new tile needs to be put in, but for now that stays the way it is. I am trying to imagine what to paint in there to make it at least look decent. The walls in the bathroom that aren't tile are brick. (Chileans seem to have this weird way of decking out entire bathrooms in tile, at least the bathrooms I have seen.) At the moment the brick is a almost pink almost red color. It reminds me of the color of a red outside bench that sat in the sun and faded after a few sunny summers. I personally don't think that matches blue tub, toilet, and sink, I really don't know what would match that... I was thinking maybe just a shade of gray. OR I could just paint it the exact color of the toilet and then when we put in new tile I can put in blue tile the same color as the toilet, and have an fugly blue bathroom. Hahahaa!! At least it would be MY fugly blue bathroom. Too bad the toilet, tub and sink aren't green, then I would do everything else blue and get a shower curtain with the world on it... yeah my interior design sucks! The flooring in our bedroom is just going to be covered with as big of an area rug as I can find, and the walls I think need to be painted a nice happy color. We currently use a quilt that my grandma gave me for my 21st birthday as our bed cover. Its blue, yellow, black, and white. So I was kind of thinking maybe a cream or light yellow or 7685 white raisin at Sherwin Williams.
The other room upstairs is going to just stay how it is I think, maybe we will put a fresh coat of white on it. It'll probably be repainted blue or pink soon enough anyways. The downstairs I don't really know what to do with, everything downstairs besides the bathroom and kitchen has a dark reddish brick looking tile. We don't have any furniture at all, so, I can pretty must just do whatever I guess, but it has to be a lighter color because its a longish skinnyish area. I was thinking either a light sage green color or a tan like 7540 artisan tan at Sherwin Williams.
I don't really know if that is a light enough color though... I am just hoping that any kind of fresh paint is better than how it is right now. Maybe I should take a class and learn how to decorate a house. I really do suck at it and its funny because I have been so excited to have my own place to decorate and now that I am getting the chance, I don't know what the flip to do!!! Oh well, at least we will have a home :o) no more waiting for 2 hours to go to the bathroom while SIL is taking a shower, no more waiting til 10pm to use the kitchen to make lunch/supper/food I'm freaking hungry, no more worrying about...making noise... no more! :o) Now I just have a couple weeks more here in MN then Zoe and I are flying back to Ro! I am dreading the goodbyes, I know its going to be really really hard to say goodbye here because I have put it into my mind that I am moving to Chile. Chile will be my home now, whether I like it or not. I also don't know when I will be coming back to Minnesota and I know one goodbye will be a forever goodbye. But, I need my husband, I can't live without him anymore!
