Who knows. I know I am saving my 500 pesos, I should say our, but in the end I get the prize :P but I don't know what exactly I am saving for. Maybe for a beautiful wedding ring for myself and one for Ro. Lots of diamonds and sparkle!! Maybe the Sony Ebook Reader PRS-700 or a new laptop. I won't know what I am saving for until I have the money saved up. I can't make up my mind on what to save for, I am lucky I can make my mind up to save the 500s instead of just 100s. SO as soon as my spaghetti sauce jar is full of 500 pesos. It will probably take an entire year or 2 of saving every single one we get back as change. I can't wait to see how many it really takes to fill it. I should make a bet with Ro on how many it holds. Maybe the winner gets the difference to spend on something they want.
Maybe when this jar is full it will no longer smell nasty as hell like the sauce that used to be in it. And maybe by the time it is full, Ro and I will have an apartment and I can get a nice bed. Or paint our apartment. Or get a new puppy, I don't know if I can get a new puppy I would feel like I was cheating on Zoe...that sounds wrong but I don't know how to explain it.
Maybe when the jar is full we will be more financially stable, maybe we can have an extra little trip to the US or maybe we can have a baby. Yes I said a baby! I know the jar won't be full for over a year so we have time. I am not planning a little poopy bundle for right now.
Maybe we won't be financially stable and I will have to use all my shiny coins to pay off my credit card. That would completely suck ass.
Maybe we will be moving to the US and the jar won't be full and we will just change it over and have to start over with quarters. We will not under any circumstances keep the 500s just in case we move back to Chile. Never!
So who knows, maybe in a year maybe more, we will have something cool, and I will have something cool to blog about.

we save 10 peso coins. we've got one jar filled and don't know what to do with it either!
we saved a Lay's Stacks thing of 10 pesos and brought them to the bank today. It was like 8000 pesos so we are saving a bigger coin so we can get something cooler.
For all those different maybe's sounds like you might need more than one jar :P
Haha, we might, but its a pretty good sized jar, I bet it can hold at least 700 coins. 350,000 pesos would scratch off a few of the maybes. But maybe we do need a second jar...hahahah!
I was just thinking about wanting to donate money to a charity each month and thought about saving coins, which reminded me of this post of yours. I don't know if you currently have credit card debt or just think you might in the future, but if you're in debt now it would be a good idea to save your coins until the end of the month and then use them to pay off a little extra on your bill each month. I know that's not as exciting as saving up an entire jar and then having a big lump sum, but you'll save more money long-term if you pay as much as you can on your debt now rather than paying more and more in interest each month. Just an idea - you may not need it, but I figured I'd mention it!
The only card debt I have right now is my plane ticket, but I have the money to pay it off so I am waiting til I get to the US to pay it off so I don't have to waste money that I don't want to on the fees at Western Union. I guess I never really thought of saving to pay off stuff. I kind of wanted it to be for something fun and new. Ro and I did decide that we will use it to buy a new laptop for me. We figure if the jar can hold 700 to 800 coins it will be enough for the laptop I want.
