Of course the supply of wine had a lot to do with it : ) Nothing like a yummy glass...or 2 or 3 or 6 of Chilean wine. Yesterday was Ro's cousin's birthday party and we went for the usual family before the friends event. But it wasn't the usual. Ro was working so I wandered there all by myself and hung out for a few hours with everyone before Ro arrived at 10:30pm. By then the rest of the family except the grandparents were still there because they were staying overnight. Of course it was the usual me sitting there trying to understand the conversation and just replying yes or no when asked a question. Then Ro's parents and sister left. Ro's uncle turned to me and said "ok, now we can talk right??" Um... a little awkward. His family seems to know that Ema never talks to me and never lets me speak for myself because she thinks I don't understand anything in Spanish and can't say anything in Spanish other than si and no. Of course my pale face turned red. I didn't realize that they all knew and mostly because Ro works with his uncle and I guess word gets around. So, after a few more glasses of wine we talked and talked and talked. Ro showed up and had some birthday cake and pizza and some wine of course. And we talked and talked and talked all night! We talked about getting moved into our new house. We talked about the bones of humans that were recently found and dated back like a bazillion years. We talked about earthquakes, tornadoes, and hurricanes. About college and wanting to study. Of course the usual topic of when we will be adding a bundle of poop and giggles to the family came up. Where are we going to move. What we would do if we won the lottery. We talked about how Ro is interested in learning more and more languages and how I would like to study to be an herbalist. We talked about how the earth is heating up and how in 15,000 years there is going to be another ice age. And on and on and on. Sometimes it was hard to understand how the conversations switched. Pretty soon it was 3am and time to tell the boys at the party they had to go home. Of course they didn't really leave til almost 4. By the end of the night Ro's aunt, grandma and his aunt's mom were the only ones still awake in the house and of course the girls. By the time we finally got home the sky was starting to get that morning glow and I was exhausted. I fell asleep and didn't wake for anything! I guess Ro's dad woke him up at 8am to help move stuff from the house into the car because : D they are moving out today!!! Last night was the last night of living with them!!! So, its 2:00 and I'm ready for a nap!
I hope everyone is having a good weekend!!!
