Am I in Chile?? No I am not.

I am not in Chile yet, but I will write about my flying day from hell brought to me not even exclusively by Delta. You see, yesterday I was not the only one. So, I will write now, just in case TOMORROW when I fly out of ATLANTA, yes, I am in Atlanta, Georgia, in case tomorrow I experience even more "fun" than I did yesterday.

To start off with, I said goodbye we drove to Minneapolis thinking we were going to get stuck in tons of road work. Hit none and thought it was my lucky day. Um FAIL. I was flying standby with a Delta Buddy pass and I was supposed to fly on the 4:00pm flight out of MSP to ATL. Key word may very well be supposed to, but just wait for it! To begin, the 4:00 flight was delayed 30 minutes because the plane that was supposed to come in hadn't arrived yet. So, Zoe, the dog, and I are sitting by gate F 12 waiting for them to call standby passengers. We didn't make the list for that flight and were shooed off to gate F 10 for the 5:10 flight. Well, that one was also delayed because they were waiting for some other plane to come in and land. We waited and waited and then they called my name! I had never been so happy in my life because I HAD to make that flight in order to make it to the flight out of Atlanta to Chile. So we get on the plane, stow away my backpack get Zoe and her travel carrier tucked under the seat in front of me. The door closes, they tell us to turn off all electronic devices, the engine turns on and..... then turns off they open the door and a man comes aboard and pulls every single standby passenger off. 37 people... including me. Why? Well, because the 4pm flight was having problems. It was broken and so they were putting all the priority people onto the plane in our places. Sigh. We get off the plane go over to the other gate again and wait. I also called my mom bawling because I was sure I wouldn't make it to Chile and had NO way to get in contact with Ro. She sent him a message. Well, as soon as we all got to the gate for the 4:00 flight, they tell us that they already fixed the plane and were boarded and ready to go. So, the plane that I got off now had people that were supposed to be on the other one and they were all shuffled up and then they were trying to send off the 4:00 plane with empty seats. Well, luckily, I got on that flight. We took off at 6:30. Yeah.... almost on time right? No. Well, I made it to Atlanta, ran with my 40 pound backpack and dog carrier in tow to the gate where the 10pm flight to Chile was boarding. Well, there were people being taken off that flight voluntarily and given $600 and hotel and food for the weekend so I knew it was bad. Obviously I didn't get on that flight. So, I called my mom with the last of my quarters and she called my uncle in Florida for the number of my cousin in Atlanta's phone number. I then called again to see if she was going to be able to help me out. :) Thank goodness she did! This part of my mom's family I hardly ever see. I am pretty sure I have seen my cousin like 2 times in my life. But, she picked me up and here I am until tomorrow when I am almost guaranteed a seat because the flight has 75 empty seats. So, thank you Emily, over at Don't Call Me Gringa if I wouldn't have read her post and packed extra underwear in my carry on, I might have had problems!!! :D I hope everyone is having a great weekend! I'll put an update as soon as I get settled in Santiago!!!
