Civil Marriage!

Rodrigo and I are getting legally married next Tuesday. The legal wedding here from what I have seen is dressing up...ugh how I hate dressing up! Not only do I have to wear "dress" pants, I also am not allowed to wear flip flops which I was totally planning on wearing. I think this whole signing papers thing is just a small bump on the way to being married. Anyways. Besides being dressed up. Ours requires a translator because my Spanish isn't good enough. Yeah, I know I suck at Spanish! And we have to pay like 80 bucks to have one of the TWO translators working for the government come. 80 bucks! I would so rather spend that on something more exciting, like our rings..which brings me to another thing required for this wedding. And remember these may or may not be required I am just going with what my fiance and his mother say. We need to have rings, real ones, I was fine with just a cheap one off the street, but no, real gold it is! So we are buying two cheap gold bands which to me isn't that cheap! I would totally have gone for white gold because I pretty much love it, but two plain white gold bands costs more than one month of work for me!!! More the $600 for two BANDS!! I have two rings that are white gold and one has one diamond one has three and together they cost less than $600!! I can't wait to buy our "real" rings in the US. When I say real, I only mean that those rings will be worn only in the US, never in Chile, no exception. SO we will have beautiful wonderful rings in the US. And here we will have a boring old yellow gold band. Back to the marriage!! We will go to pudahuel a county in Santiago that I have been in just the one time to get the paper. The whole while I was there I was paranoid. Ro said it is a very very poor part of the city. So poor that there was a dead dog on the sidewalk, and nobody even came to get rid of it!! We will be there with Ro's mom, dad, sis, and 2 grandmas. I didn't know that signing paper was so important. Our signing will also be videotaped if Rodrigo gets his way. Just the thing that I am going to want to watch with my kids 10 years down the road...yes sweetie look, there's mommy and daddy(Ro has decided that he wants to be called daddy instead of papa or papi or whatever else they use here instead.) signing a paper! Anyways. I am just mad because I can't wear flip flops and I have to buy dress shoes that I will only be wearing that one day. I just love spending money on unnecessary things...I actually do like doing that, but only on things that I like!!
