I've hung a wish on every star, it hasn't done much good so far.

"Star Light, Star bright, the first star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might have the wish I make tonight."

I'm sure everyone knows this children's rhyme. It is from America, 19th century to be exact. So if you don't know it then google it.  When I was little, I never really knew about this until the first time I saw Pinocchio and from then on I would make my little kid wishes on the first star I saw at night. I know my wishes back then were something silly, probably that I would get what I asked for for Christmas or for some kind of toy to just appear out of nowhere. I never really got the concept that when Geppetto made a wish that what he wished for was something greater than an easy material wish. I don't really make wishes on the first star I see at night anymore. I save my wishes for shooting stars. When I was younger on shooting stars I would almost always wish for the same things as on the first star of the night. Then, when I was older I would wish for a boyfriend, wish I would overnight become the best basketball player on the team, (or just good enough that I would get to play more than the last 20 seconds of the game...) sometimes I wished that I wouldn't get in trouble for whatever I did... : P naughty kid... But, now at 22, honestly, yes, I do wish on shooting stars. Of course my wishes have become much less childish, but really it all boils down to the same thing. Wishes don't come true unless you make them, so there's no point of wishing for things that are 100% impossible or things that you yourself really cannot fix or change. What you wish for pretty much just tells you what you are not getting out of life that you want to, or that you aren't working hard enough to get it. I could wish on every single star, of course it would take almost forever, but I still wouldn't get what I wished for unless I myself actually did something to get it. So, enough of this wishing.... I need to make things happen. The end.

Hey Shannon!

As usual, good observations. Wishes are great (and fun) but making things happen usually takes work.

There are times when no one may want/wish for what you want MORE than you do. At the end of the day, if you want something badly you usually have to find a way to make it happen yourself.

Whenever I want certain things - and it's just NOT happening - or I have lots of obstacles - it usually means I'm in the wrong place/situation, etc. and the Universe is patiently waiting for me to 'get' that, and do something else.

Once I finally have the big "duh!" moment and move on/make changes, then it seems like things start clicking into place.

There have been times where I've kept doing the same dumb things over and over, hoping change would happen without having to actually do the hard stuff/work.

Good luck with what you are wishing for! Tamara
