I want it I want it I want it!!!
Carrying books back and forth from the US is a pain in the ass, and so is buying books here in Santiago. I have decided that instead of buying books for a whole year I am going to get a Sony ebook PRS-700BC. I have been looking at it for a long time now and I have also been looking at other ebook readers and I haven't found another that I like besides the Amazon Kindle 2 and that won't work in Chile. I think it will just be so much easier to download books onto this and carry around 100 or so books with me where ever I go and I won't have to do eeenie meeeenie minieee mo everytime I leave here and the US. It will be nice to know that if I want a book, I can just grab the reader and read whatever I want when I want. I hate when I am here and think of a book that I really really want to read and then remember that I had to leave that one book home. I will also be able to put all my music on it so I can listen to music and read at the same time. I really hope that I can afford one in the near future. Unless my hubby really shocks me and gets me one for my Bday, I probably won't have one til the end of the year, but it will be worth it. For now I will just look at it online like everyday and make a list of the books I will put on it right away.

Just curious, why won't the Kindle work in Chile?
But yeah, E-Book reader for anyone who's traveling a lot...definitely a good idea!
I guess the Kindle can be used in Chile, but you can't put on any new books or anything because it works with whispernet through Sprint so you can only add stuff when you are in the US. And it can't be connected to a computer, so it pretty much only works if you are going to be in the US or going to the US often. I really like the look of the Kindle, but the Sony one, I can use here and plug into the computer and add new books and music whenever and where ever I have a computer.
I have a Kindle and you can download books to your computer and then add them to your Kindle via a SD Card that you insert in the back. My husband found a whole bunch of old books that the copyright had expired on (which meant they were free) and so he simply downloaded them to our computer and used the SD Card to put them on my Kindle. Plus it adds a ton more space. And any time you buy a book for your Kindle, all you have to do is go to "Manage Kindle" on their website and all the books you bought will be right there. Then you can just click "download to my computer" and you have your books. I really like my Kindle and I can only imagine how great it would be in a country where you can't really buy books. That would drive me absolutely INSANE!!! But I hope either way you get one for a birthday or anniversary, because book withdrawal is never a good thing! :)
On the Kindle 1 this is true. But you can't buy the Kindle 1 (new)anymore they just have the Kindle 2 now and it doesn't have a spot for an SD card. I like the way the Kindle 2 looks better than the first version otherwise I could have bought it on ebay.
