I'm Back.
I finally received that brown envelope I have been waiting almost 2 months for. I am not illegal in Chile anymore and I can now look for a job. The only problem is trying to find a job where I can work until I leave for Minnesota on the 7th of June and hopefully still be able to work there when I come back to Chile...on who knows what day since I still don't have a return flight. I have been thinking of doing the cheapest thing possible, which is a one way ticket with Spirit Air from Chicago to Lima for 335 bucks. The only problem I am having so far is well, Lima is a long ways away from Santiago. So off to look for a job. Ro's received a very important phone call this morning... he missed it actually. It was a potential job for him, something better than taxi driving, something that would have been very helpful to us in the near and maybe even forever future. Since he missed the call, I am really hoping that they call him back. It would make me feel a billion times better leaving him here while I'm in MN if he had a job where he was required to be there at a specific time and required to work a certain number of hours each day, but if it doesn't happen I just have to trust that him and hope he doesn't turn into a lazy bum and only go to work for a few hours and only try to get the minimum each day. And that he doesn't take advantage of me being away to hang out with his friends and get screwed into always buying the alcohol.... I still can't figure out why his friends think we are just dirty rich. Sigh. Oh well. Nothing else new I guess...

Yay! You got your work visa! Things will only go up from here. You´ll see!
Lou, you have no idea how much I hope you are right! But I'm keeping my head up for the time being, I have no reason not to, I leave for home in 45 days. The break from this ridiculous living situation will be wonderful and hopefully when I come back I will have my own home as promised by my husband.
Congrats on the work visa, Shannon!
Lou is right. Things will go up. dont mean to sound like a 'woo woo' California girl, but if you believe it, it will happen.
I thought of you earlier. We had brats, beer, and corn for dinner. They weren't great brats, beer wasn't Leinenkugel, and it's not Midwestern corn but, hey, when you live in CA you take what you can get!
People in Latin America think ALL gringos are rich. Just living in the US = "rich". It's the same thing with my relatives in Mexico City!!
I'm curious...is everyone in Chile obsessed with "Twilight" as they are here?
Think positive thoughts :-)
Tamara
Tamara, that sounds super delicious!!! An I really wish people didn't think all gringas are rich. It really isn't fair. There are some people here that are really into Twilight, but really I don't think many of them actually read the books, they are just into the movies. I don't think a lot of young people here read for fun... too bad too because they are missing out.
