I really want to book Rodrigo's ticket to the States now, but since we don't know yet when we are going it's very hard. I'm ready to just throw in an estimate, add two weeks and book the ticket. I can't believe how the price of tickets has gone up, I remember when I bought my ticket just last year. From Minnesota to Chile for only $900 or so! And NOW!! $1500 to $2000 INSANE. Does anyone know any good place to go for cheap tickets???? Rodrigo said he doesn't care if it takes him 2 days to get there as long as the ticket is cheap. I'm thinking about just buying the ticket and if I have to pay a couple hundred $ to change the day, I will.
Also, if any of my family is willing to pitch in some money for the ticket, that would help us out A LOT!!! :D Love lots!!

i didnt believe you so i typed in a few myself (scl-msp jan 20. which, is in theory bad chile to minn time bc its vacation ending)
i know many student tickets like student universe and STA travel dont allow one way entering the US and/or rodrigo wouldnt apply.
anyway air canada has had great mn-chile service recently. it has been costing ~600 one way to get here for the past half year. its always way expensive to fly BACK one way, its more convenient price wise to use round trip. you cant buy a round trip and not get on the first leg though so thats out of the quesiton.
when i was very seriously looking to buy a one way scl-msp half year ago they were costing around 2thousand. In my mini test right now both delta and air canada had fares under 1200.
IF you are very curious, I cannot personally vouch for anything and there are bound to be some catches, BUT there is an airline Spirit air (spiritair.com) which has super cheap flights. it doesnt go to and from all destinations either. chile nor minn. BUT for instance i just looked up lima to chicago feb 3 and got $324. I have a friend that lived in central america and her family lived by one of the US airports spirit flew to and they frequently used this airline for super freaking cheap flights. i would say its probably too problematic to try to figure out how to get to lima, what the restrictions on these deals are, and furthermore drive 8 hours or get another chicago flight afterwards but i thought i'd pass it along so you at least can consider and rule out options.
..sheesh, long. is it obvious i have wayyy too much time on my hands?
uhhmmm i know a place, maybe know the same.. but anyway.. here is the information.. i have contact with a girl, her name is Soledad, her email is: soledad@sertur.cl
she can give you all the information you need about your tickets... also if you use an ISIC student card (8000 pesos if rodrigo doesnt have one) your tickets will be cheaper, or if you have an account in the BCI Bank and you have the ISIC card with that bank you will be cheaper..
you can book your tickets and i think if you change the first date is free... i dont remember...
this is the name and address of that place. Is in Tobalaba station.

Thanks!!! I looked into Spiritair! Now I just have to find a way to get my Ro from Santiago to Lima!
Lima - Chicago, total: $425.46
Greyhound! Chicago- St.Cloud MN: $48
total so far!! $473.46!!!! WOWOWOW!!!
Now a bus ticket to Lima is all I need to find! Poor Ro, maybe I should fork out the extra $100 to let him fly first class from lima to chicago! hahahah
