Fine Print.....new advice from Shannon! READ IT!!!

So, apparently Lan Chile has this policy where your trip cannot be longer than a year....good to know. I have to leave the country on January 14th. The latest I can leave. I am thankful that they don't have some stupid 120 day trip maximum like some places, but seriously what gives?? Why does the airline get to decide how long I can be gone before I want to come back?? Grrrr!

I think all airlines have a 1 year maximum stay/booking for round trip.

this also caused major problems for me when i paid for 2 extension changes up to 365 days and in the end didnt want to leave that soon.

so i didnt. and so could you-that's your way around it. unfortunately you'd get no partial refund nor flyer miles.

I am still new to the whole flying business, but I still should have looked into it before I went home in July because I could have changed the dates on this return flight instead of sticking the whole trip in the middle. Then again, I flew home with Delta in July.....

I think the 1 year thing has been around for quite some time. I had this issue in 1996 and again in 2000. Still, frustrating.
